Your questions answered
What is Cosmetic Laser Surgery?
Cosmetic laser surgery is a non-invasive technique using laser beams to treat areas of the skin without altering its outer appearance and is suitable for all types and colours of skin. It is a safe and effective treatment using a hand held laserscope and is performed by many surgeons around the world.
Does the treatment hurt?
With any laser cosmetic surgery treatment, patients may experience a mild stinging or burning sensation during treatment which is minimised with a special cooling system delivered by the laserscope handpiece to the surface of the skin. A topical anaesthetic cream can also be applied to sensitive areas one hour prior to treatment. Following the treatment, patients may experience a slight reddening of the treated areas but this will quickly fade.
What aftercare will I need?
It is advisable to avoid direct exposure to sunlight after treatments or to use an effective sunscreen SPF 30.
How long does the treatment take?
Treatments vary in length depending on the size and severity of the area to be treated.
Will there be any marks left on my skin?
Cosmetic laser surgery uses the latest technology for treatment of skin complaints and results are far superior than ever before. Dr Beattie will discuss with you exactly what results to expect before you undertake any procedures.
Can I see the results of previous treatments?
Pictures will be available to view at the initial consultation with Dr Beattie. Other examples can be seen on the web site by following the links below.
How much will it cost?
Cost depends on the laser time involved. The initial consultation is free. Payment can be by cheque or any major credit or debit card.
